BDC Small Business Week - Glen Smyth (Appleflats)
The Appleflats story began in the summer of 1993, when the parents of company founders Glen and Alex Smyth, along with an aunt and uncle, finished building a house on their newly purchased farmer's field and planted a crabapple tree in the front yeard to celebrate this milestone.
A crabapple was chosen because of beautiful blossoms in the spring. Over the years, as Glen and Alex grew, so did the tree. Soon the tree bore fruit and they harvested it each year as a family event before school started.
